Statistics aside, the show’s concept and characters are the real heart of the story that keeps viewers coming back for more. ‘JAG’ Inspired ‘NCIS’

NCIS is a spin-off from JAG, a legal drama for the U.S. Navy. Both NCIS and JAG were created by Donald P. Bellisario – who wrote episodes of the beloved Magnum, P.I. starring Tom Selleck.

Say My Name

To help viewers, the show was first called Navy NCIS – a decision made by CBS which Donald P. Bellisario strongly objected to! Come on, it is rather redundant. For the first whole season, it was known by this name until “Navy” was eventually dropped.
