Liz was a single mother to four girls who she loved more than anything. Since she was raising them herself, things were even more difficult. Laura and Rico Ruffino were busy raising their own two daughters. However, when they got the heartbreaking news, their family would be changed forever. They didn’t know what to do when they found out. Laura and Rico would help Liz out with whatever she needed. They were all practically one family. Tara, Samona, Ella, and Lilyan Diamond were a very tight-knit group of sisters. Other than being sisters, they were best friends. They got that one call that changed their lives forever. Liz told them she had to see them as soon as possible, that it was important. Laura and Rico couldn’t begin to imagine what it was about.

Liz told her best friends and daughters the worst news she could ever tell them. She was beginning a battle with brain cancer. No one knew how bad it was or how bad it would get. Everyone was scared, but one thing they knew was that they were in this fight together. They all held out hope that Liz would be okay. Her stage 4 cancer wasn’t showing any signs of improvement. In fact, it was just the opposite. Liz made the decision to ask her best friend something huge. She asked her if she would adopt her four children if anything would happen to her. Immediately, Laura said yes. She and Rico couldn’t think of a better way to show their love for Liz than to do this.
