We’re here for all things Mad About You. That’s right, it’s time to see where the lovely stars who played the Buchmans and their friends and family have gone. Meanwhile some fans are still holding out with hopes of a reboot. While we cannot confirm anything, we just want to take a trip down memory lane and see where these stars ended up!
Paul Reiser (Paul)
Naturally, we have to catch up with one of the main stars, Paul Reiser who played Paul Buchman. Since the show things have really picked up for Reiser. Comedy Central named him as one of the greatest 100 stand-up comedians in 2004. He’s even founded his own production company. Oh and no big deal but he plays Dr. Sam Owens on the hit Netflix show, Stranger Things. You go Paul! By the way, we cannot wait for the next season of Stranger Things!

John Pankow (Ira)
Probably best known for playing Ira Buchman, Pankow starred in all seven seasons of the show! Later on, he gained critical acclaim for the role of Merc Lapidus on the show Episodes. Do you remember Buffy’s mom Joyce on Buffy the Vampire Slayer? She was played by Kristine Sutherland. Anyway, after dating John Pankow, the two decided to marry back in 1985.

Remember Fran Devanow? Well, this actress is also known for her acting in movies like, Identity, The Hot Chick, Other People’s Money and White Oleander. After Mad About You, she got a master’s in Clinical Psychology and now practices in LA as a therapist. Also, she married the acting coach Neil Monaco in 1994.

Anne Ramsay (Lisa)
After playing Lisa Stemple on Mad About You, there was no stopping this actress. From playing Lt. Col. Grace Alexander in Planet of the Apes to her recurring roles in shows like Six Feet Under, Dexter and Hawthorne, Ramsay does it all. Let’s not forget her appearances on shows like Nora Underwood and The Secret Life Of The American Teenager.

Perhaps, known best for playing Mad About You‘s Sylvia Buchman, this actress has done more than play the overbearing mother-in-law. She’s also acted in films like Rescue Me(2004) and The Geena Davis Show(2000). However, she’s always going to be Sylvia to us!

Louis Zorich (Burt)
Now, on to Paul Buchman’s father, Burt. Maybe you already knew Zorich from his role in Fiddler on The Roof as the constable or saw him later on as Grampa in Detachment(2011). Anyway, he married Olympia Dukakis back in 1962 and they have three kids. Now, he’s part of the HB Studio faculty in NYC.

So you have to remember Debbie Buchman, Paul’s lesbian sister! This was the role that got Bartlett a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination! Anyway, she’s been on almost everything since then. You can catch her on “The Ida Funkhauser Roadside Memorial” from HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm as a private school dean. Or maybe you saw her as Bridget Kearns in Shutter Island. She’s starred in American Horror Story‘s Asylum and Coven. Let’s not forget her role in H.(2014) as Helen.

Seriously, what hasn’t Richard Kind starred in? Well, back during Mad About You, he was Dr. Mark Devanow. He also starred on Spin City, but now he’s known as both an actor and voice actor. In fact, he lent his voice to the Cars series, Toy Story 3 and Inside Out, to name a few. Of course, he starred as Larry David’s cousin on several episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Oh and he played the hilarious hypochondriac Harvey Corman on Scrubs.

Well, who could forget the nasty neighbor, Maggie Conway? Anyway, Geeson has had quite the career. As for her roles after the show, she played Natalie Swope on Gilmore Girls and appeared in The Lords of Salem, as well as 31.

Helen Hunt (Jamie)
Of course, Helen Hunt played the star Jamie Stemple Buchman for the entire show. Hunt also starred in As Good As It Gets, Cast Away, Pay It Forward and What Women Want, among other films. Although she previously was dating former costar Hank Azaria, she later married Matthew Carnahan. They have a daughter together, but announced their separation in 2017 after 16 years of dating.

Well, well, well, none other than Lisa Kudrow or in the show, Ursula. What a name! Anyway, now everyone knows her as Phoebe from Friends. Interestingly enough, she not only starred in, but produced and wrote for the HBO comedy show The Comeback. Of course, she’s starred in her fair share of movies like, Dr. Dolittle 2, Wonderland, P.S. I Love You, Easy A, Neighbors and Neighbors 2, The Girl On The Train and The Boss Baby to name a few.

Where to begin with this singer, writer, poet, artist coach and actress? Well, in the show she played Dr. Joan Golfinos. Then she went on to act in shows and movies like, Everybody Loves Raymond, How I Met Your Mother, Disclosure, Red Eye and more. She also wrote and recorded the audiobook, The Return of King Lillian.

Sure, we covered how Hank Azaria was dating his costar Helen Hunt. Actually, after dating for some time, they married, but later, divorced. Anyway, this star also does voice acting and is a comedian and producer too. He’s worked on The Simpsons since 1989, voicing many characters. Perhaps, you saw him in the films Along Came Polly, Run Fatboy Run or Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. Recently, he’s been the star of Brockmire. Now, he’s married to fellow actress Katie Wright.

Like some of his other former costars, this actor has gone on to do a lot since playing Marvin. To begin with, he’s a comedian, producer, voice artist, writer and director. Oh and podcast host and author too! Of course, we love him as manager Jeff Greene on Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. For that role, he was nominated for seven Emmys! Now, he stars in The Goldbergs on ABC.

Next, we have Dr. Shelia Kleinman played by Mo Gaffney, comedian, actress and activist. She had recurring roles in That 70’s Show and Friends, as well. Also, she co-hosts “Women Aloud,” which is a radio program. Let’s not forget her roles in shows like NCIS and VEEP. She’s an advocate for same-sex marriage.
