His Furry Best Pals
It was not hard for Crosby to trust and befriend other animals. This was evident in the way that he grew close to the dog and cat next door. For almost eight years, the trio got up to all sorts of antics. All of a sudden, however, his two best friends died one after the other. Their owner had been very sad to lose his two pets in rapid succession. He was not the only one. Crosby was also devastated.

Companionship
Pets love companionship, that is what they value- it is one of the purposes of their existence. When a pet loses this they too feel sad, they feel the grievance just as much as a human would. It is only natural that Crosby would be a little bit down, however, this was not necessarily the reasoning for his behavior.
