Gilligan’s Island fans probably thought Skipper never even got a name. In fact, that’s not true. In the 1964 pilot of the show, they said his name was Jonas Grumby. Remember when Alan Hale Jr.’s character passed away on the show? During that episode they scattered his ashes and someone said, “It’s what ‘The Skipper’ would have wanted.” Maybe they also forgot it was Jonas!

You don’t have to be a producer to know what the fourth wall is, but for those who are unaware, it’s the space between the cast and the audience or crew. Skipper (Alan Hale Jr.) was notorious for breaking down the fourth wall by looking directly at the camera to make a face. Actually, this wasn’t all that common on TV. Also, the show was supposed to work on a fourth movie, but that’s another story!
