Moving on to the sport Rugby, which is tough and rough like football, without protective gear, is where Richard Metcalfe is a superstar. More than just being incredibly tall at 7’, and massive at 280 pounds, his talent is also impressive. All of these things definitely help in playing the game which requires intense physicality and often errs on violence. Originally from Scotland, Metcalfe played for his country and won 13 caps in his career. He holds the title of the tallest international Rugby player, but he has gone into retirement due to a nasty knee injury back in 2003, after 8 years of playing the sport professionally.

Zdeno Chara (6’9”)

Hockey is another violent sport and in the international arena, some pretty brutal situations have arisen in the game but we doubt someone would want to mess with this massive man. Zdeno Chara is not just a really intimidating player on the ice, being 6’9” tall and weighing 256 pounds, but he also has a lot of experience playing the game seeing as his career spans 24 years now and he’s still in it. He’s been captain of a Stanley Cup championship team, which makes him one of just two European-born men to have ever done this. He admits that due to his height, many coaches attempted to draft him in basketball early on in his career but he stuck to his passion and didn’t stop pursuing the sport he loved, and this has made him an inspiration for many people to go after what they want.
