The Sunburn Ray

This invention could have come straight out of a Marvel comic book. In 2010, the U.S. military created a heat ray that should have been able to decimate incoming enemies. Instead, it only projected enough power to create a painful sunburn. It didn’t succeed as they had intended – enemy troops would just need a bottle of sunblock to get past this one.

The Puke Ray

Before pilots received tinted lenses on their masks, there was a rare instant when they would get a dizzying glare of sunlight that would make them feel sick instantly, resulting in puking. The U.S. military looked at this concept as an idea for a tool that could paralyze an opponent by making him throw up. The idea was chucked.
