A short time later, when the hospital found no abnormalities in the test results, the unfortunate baby was sent to an orphanage for adoption. The nurse went through the process of sending Gabe to the orphanage without hesitation. But inside, every time I looked at Gabe’s sweet smile, my heart ached with a sadness that threatened to tear me apart. Would there be a family willing to take in a limbless baby? There seems to be no hope.
