Hardship.
It is said that true hardship happens to those who overcome it. The hard luck Gabe has had is a series of hardships that cannot be compared to that of a child who is blessed to be born to parents who are happy and satisfied with his or her life. Adopted by the Adams family and raised among 13 siblings, Gabe seemed to have a bright and wonderful future ahead of him. At the same time, however, many challenges await him. What people do everyday without even thinking about it is a challenge for him. At school, he was laughed at and bullied for his disability.

School Bullying
His apparent and severe disability, along with the prejudice of American society’s inability to accept it and the harsh bullying he received at school, led him to change schools in his freshman year. As Gabe grew older, he despaired of his body. At times he wanted to die. He didn’t talk much to his classmates and would often hide and cry. Gabe’s life was full of pain and struggle. His parents, however, always encouraged him to do the best he could for himself and raised him strictly against adversity.
